Japanese national baseball team ace Darvish “Join training from the first day”
Darvish Yu (37, San Diego Padres), who will play as the ace of the Japanese national baseball team at the World Baseball Classic (WBC) in March, will train with the national team from the first day.
Citing Darvish’s social networking service (SNS) account, Nikkan Sports and other Japanese media reported on the 31st that he will participate in the Japanese national team’s training in Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan, from February 17.
Darvish wrote on SNS, “I’m going from the first day of the camp,” adding, “I’m a veteran, so the Padres club has been flexible.”
Darvish, the oldest player in the Japanese national team, is expected to start the first round of Group B match against South Korea at Tokyo Dome on March 10 at 7 p.m.
It is known that it is unclear whether the remaining four major leaguers, excluding Darvish, will join the training early among the Japanese national team players.
Players who play in the U.S. Major League Baseball (MLB) can join their national team training from scratch, apart from MLB’s policy, according to the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) secretariat, which supports the WBC Korean national team. 안전놀이터
However, Kim Ha-sung (San Diego) and Tommy Hyun-soo Edman (Saint Louis Cardinals), who will play as the main shortstop and second baseman of the Korean national team, will join the national team in early March as they believe it is better to develop their adaptability and sense against big league pitchers who throw fast balls at big league spring camps.
