Ahn Kwon-soo (29, outfielder), a third-generation Korean-Japanese who played for Doosan until this season, thanked fans.

Ahn Kwonsoo said on his Instagram, “Fans, thank you so much for supporting me for three years. For the first time this year, I was able to hear the fans’ “I was surprised by the support of Korea,” he said.

Ahn Kwonsoo, a graduate of Waseda University in Japan, participated in the 2020 KBO Rookie Draft Tryout held in August 2019 to fulfill his dream of becoming a professional in “Grandpa’s Country” while playing baseball in the independent league and business league in Japan. In the 2020 KBO Rookie Draft, he made his professional debut after receiving Doosan’s 99th overall nomination in the second 10th round.

He was only a backup until last year, but completed the career high season this season. He played in 76 games and batted .297 with 71 hits, 20 RBIs, 43 runs, and three steals. With his unique sense of base running and toughness, he pushed out Jung Soo-bin and Kim In-tae and played as key members, and was also ranked 0th in the main right fielder under coach Lee Seung-yeop’s system.

Ahn Kwon-soo was included in the list of players excluding players on hold in 2023 announced by KBO on the 1st. Under the Korean-Japanese Military Service Act, Ahn Kwon-soo can play in the KBO League up to next year. If he is to extend his active duty thereafter, he must join the military.
